Advanced Biblical Hebrew

Continue your Biblical Hebrew education at an advanced level with this quality course from Dr. Anne Davis, a Biblical languages professor. In this course, Dr. Davis will start where her Intermediate Biblical Hebrew course left off, increasing the amount of vocabulary, as well as covering the different types of Hebrew verbs.

Lesson 1 covers the Hebrew number system and the depth of meaning of each number beyond their literal meaning.

Lesson 2 introduces hollow verbs and how to recognize a verb root even when two letters appear in cases where the middle letter drops out.

Lesson 3 explains the command in Hebrew, both the unique word structure and the abrupt sound.

Lesson 4 teaches how to recognize the Hebrew infinitive.

Lesson 5 explores the Hebrew infinitive and the provocative meaning it carries in ongoing action.

Lesson 6 introduces the passive niphal verb form, where there is no direct object.

Lesson 7 explains the intensity of action in the pile verb form.

Lesson 8 continues with the emotion carried by the Hebrew hiphil verb form.

Lesson 9 concludes with the reflexive hithpiel verb form.

By the end of the course, you will be able to parse Hebrew verbs and discern their meaning through a solid knowledge of each verb form. Each lesson will add to your vocabulary as well. You will also have all the tools you need to do a Hebrew word study.
